Family Activities on St. Croix

Family-Friendly Fun on St. Croix

If you’re planning a family vacation to St. Croix, get excited—this is a place for the lifelong memories and cherished photos. There are so many opportunities for family fun in St. Croix that creating a plan beforehand is definitely recommended! Whether you’re bringing a family with younger children or older, there are activities for everyone here in the USVI.

One of the best things about traveling as a family are the family deals you can get on most activities, your stay and travel. Most St. Croix hotels and excursion companies welcome families and offer discounts for large parties that could allow you to participate in more island activities and save you money during your trip.

Not traveling with your family? We also have information on exploring St. Croix solo, with your partner or as a group.

Family-Friendly St. Croix Activities

If your family is looking for adventure, look no further! There are island activities all over St. Croix, from snorkeling and kayaking to paddle boarding and fishing. For those who prefer outside of the water activities there are ATV and horseback riding tours of the rainforest and island. You never know what you might see and discover while here on St. Croix.

Visiting St. Croix Older Children

For families visiting St. Croix with older children, there are opportunities to learn to sail, rent wave runners and explore the island in multiple different ways. For those with smaller children, be sure to ask your hotel or resort what activities they have with infant and toddler free or discounted admission. More often than not, hotels offer activities for children on-site such as scavenger hunts, games, contests, and movies, etc. There might even be an opportunity for you and your spouse to have a dinner alone and reflect on your trip together—check out the local St. Croix babysitting and nanny listings.

Night Activities with Family

One of the most exciting adventures for both young and old is available is at night! St. Croix not only has one, but two bioluminescent bays located at the Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve and Altona Lagoon. The water when disturbed in these areas of St. Croix appears to glow like shooting stars due to bioluminescent microorganisms called dinoflagellates. These areas are very precious and protected environments so be sure to do your part in preserving their natural state. Not wearing sunscreen or bug spray and respecting the natural habitat is a great place to start!
