St. Croix History

If you’re interested in learning about the island and like to do more of the cultural attractions you won’t have to look too far. St. Croix has an amazing history and cultural background to share. Some of the most popular sites are several of the churches, such as Holy Cross Catholic Church build in 1755 and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church built in 1792. Point Udall, which is the easternmost point of the United States, offers an excellent photo opportunity. If you’re more interested in the landscape and plants of St. Croix, you can visit St. George Village Botanical Garden, which boasts an array of colorful blooms that is out of this world.

St. Croix Beaches

The most beautiful part of the island of St. Croix is, of course, it’s magnificent beaches. If you’re up to a hike, Annaly Bay is an amazing reward for your efforts. Refreshing snorkeling and tide pools are worth every challenging step of this St. Croix hike-in beach. For a quiet and calm beach try Green Cay beach, which is often less crowded than other popular spots. It is located near Tamarind Reef, which also offers great snorkeling and is usually spacious and uncrowded. One of the great things about this St. Croix beach is it also has shaded areas if you’ve already overdone yourself in the sun.

St. Croix Activities

While at the beach on St. Croix, if you’re interested in an excursion look into Buck Island tour company. Buck Island is a great place for snorkeling! Jolly Roger or Big Beard’s Adventure Tours are great options for St. Croix active tours. There are other excursions such as dinner cruises, sunset cruises, and even the occasional party cruise available as well. Renting some water equipment might also be a great way to get around the island at your own pace; consider jetskis, kayaks, or even a small boat (stick to guided charters if you’re inexperienced at sea). If you’d like to be more active and adventurous, you can learn how to surf, dive, and even kitesurf—all on the island of St. Croix.

When it comes to being social on the island as a solo traveler, St. Croix has a very active and welcoming social atmosphere.
