USVI Airports

St. Croix and St. Thomas are the only US Virgin Islands with airports—St. John does not have an airport but it is easily accessible via St. Thomas. On St. Thomas you will find Cyril E. King Airport (CEKA) and on St. Croix you will find Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (HERA).

USVI Airport Services

Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas is located two miles west of the city of Charlotte Amalie and is one of the busiest airports in the Eastern Caribbean. The airport is modern and well designed and offers a snack bar and café.

Henry E. Rohlsen Airport is located six miles southwest of Christiansted on the island of St. Croix. It handles many flights from the USA as well as connecting flights via San Juan in Puerto Rico and St. Thomas.

Transportation from USVI Airports

Taxis are one of the most popular options for getting from the airport to your hotel on either St. Thomas or St. Croix. The rates for these taxis are not metered, they are a set price per person and per destination as set by the USVI taxicab division.

Only travel with the licensed taxis, you can tell which ones they are because they have a taxi placard as well as a sign on the fender indicating the maximum capacity of passengers. Also, the driver should display their personal identification on the dashboard of the vehicle. Do not travel with any other taxis, as they are operated by unlicensed drivers in their own personal vehicles and do not adhere to the rules of the taxi commission.

Airport shuttle services are also an option. If you are traveling with a large group you might find it more economical to share a van or a shuttle to your hotel from the airport.

When arriving at Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas there is a budget option for getting into town: you can walk to Veteran’s Drive and catch a bus that will only cost a few dollars.
