Attractions on St. Croix

Make the Most of Your St. Croix Visit

The rich history, perfect weather and multitude of beaches on St. Croix all combine to offer opportunities for fun, romance, adventure and relaxation. Whether you want to discover Buck Island Reef National Monument or Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge, dive into history at places like Fort Christensvaern or the Whim Museum or just take it all in at Point Udall – there is truly something for everyone.

Adventure

St. Croix offers a plethora of options for thrill seekers in and out of the water. If you want the ultimate experience, try sky diving with the Air Skills Institute. For those looking for something a bit more grounded, hiking in Jack or Isaac bays, the tide pools, or up the Caledonia Waterfall are all great options. You could also try an off road jeep tour, drive an ATV through the rainforest, or giddy up on horseback to explore. If watersports are more to your liking, there really is no end to the options. Beyond world class snorkeling and diving locations across the island, you can also get your adrenaline fix with a kayak adventure through the mangroves or a bioluminescent bay, go paddle boarding (try a nighttime paddle), or jump on a charter for some deep sea fishing.

Romance

If you’re planning your travel to St. Croix with a partner, there are a number of romantic options to consider. Be the first to experience the new day with a sunrise at Point Udall, or be the last to watch the sun go down on Frederiksted Pier (or perhaps try sailing into the sunset on a catamaran). Treat yourselves to a couples’ massage after you ride one or more of St. Croix’s amazing beaches on horseback. Then take in some great Jazz on the waterfront before experiencing exquisite cuisine during a dinner on the beach under the stars.

History

If you’re a history buff, St. Croix offers over 600 years of stories for you to explore. A great way to begin is with an historic walking tour of the city that will include numerous estates, forts and churches from times past. You can also explore ruins of the once-booming sugar plantations and tour one of the plantation great houses. There is also history to be found at the waterfront where you can explore ancient ships and docks.

Family Fun

There is something fun for the entire family in St. Croix. The beaches are an obvious place to start with pristine sand and crystal clear waters. You could extend your fun in the sun to the water with a boat or jet ski ride, snorkeling or scuba, especially at the underwater trails of Buck Island. There is plenty to do with the family away from the beach. You could drive the North shore coast, the Heritage Trail or take an open air safari tour. The family could also visit Sandy Point National Wildlife preserve or see where Christopher Columbus landed. You can also try some less common fun by exploring the island to try and find the 20 geocaches; go see the beer drinking pig at the Montpellier Domino Club.

Active

If you’re an active spirit, St. Croix has plenty for you to do, every day. For example, you can golf on any of the three island courses, or ride a bike around the East End Loop. You can participate in the annual St. Croix Ironman Triathlon, or just improve your stroke by swimming in the gentle ocean. For something fun, but less competitive, try playing beach volleyball, or taking a simple run or walk on any of the many trails around the city and across the island.

Relaxation

What would an island be without plenty of options for relaxing? If you’re coming to chill, St. Croix has you covered. You can refresh and renew at one of the island’s many spas, or stretch your inner self by taking in a yoga class. You can also spend time enjoying any of St. Croix’s 39 flavors of rum or attend a wine tasting. If you’re looking for something more natural, try staying at one of the islands tree houses, or enjoying a meal at one of the organic farms.
